Audit Director

You will lead audit engagements end to end at Benford and own the judgement calls that decide them. You will also shape how those engagements are run, because the methodology and the platform behind them are still being built.

Why Benford

Audit at the small and mid-market end has been abandoned while fees keep rising. The largest firms are stepping back, and every previous attempt to modernise the work aimed at the auditor's desk and left the firm itself untouched. Benford is vertically integrated instead: we hold the licence, we build the platform, and we employ the auditor who signs. We are a registered audit firm in Norway, live with clients today, with teams in London and Oslo.

The problem is hard because audit sits where judgement, context, data and methodology meet. Getting it right takes the best auditors and engineers working as one team, over years.

What you'll own

• Engagements from scoping through to the opinion, including the exceptions and the conversations that change an engagement.
• The quality bar: how risk is assessed, how evidence is judged sufficient, and how that reasoning is recorded.
• Methodology that becomes product. You will sit with engineers and decide what the platform should do next.
• Client relationships, and the standard for how a Benford audit feels to be on the receiving end of.

Who we're looking for

• A qualified accountant with statutory audit experience and a recent step up to director, or ready for one.
• Comfortable being accountable for the opinion and for the judgement behind it.
• Interested in working with routine work done by systems, so your time goes to judgement rather than administration.
• You are interested in why the process works the way it does, not only in following it.
